Based on the top of a hill, the medieval castle of Monteriggioni looks like an impregnable fortress which for the last 25 years has been home of the famous Monteriggioni off-road Mtb Granfondo. A permanent tracked trail will help you to enjoy this mountainbike tour in a mixture done by “strade bianche” in between the vineyards and single tracks inside the woods up and down the little mountain which surrounds the castle. Located in between Florence and Siena, it is a very famous attraction for tourists which visit it all year around. For mtb bikers it will be a bet from each other to pedal the 23% ascent on dirt-road, which enter inside the north medieval door.
